¿Qué ropa es adecuada para boxeo, kickboxing, muay thai o MMA?

For Point-Fighting, Light-Contact, Full-Contact, Kickboxing, K1, Muay Thai (Thai Boxing), MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), and Boxing, there is specific clothing designed to ensure freedom of movement, safety, and functionality. In Kickboxing and Muay Thai, special shorts are often worn, and in MMA also rashguards and tight-fitting pants or leggings. Here is an overview:

Point-Fighting, Light-Contact, Full-Contact Kickboxing

In these disciplines, long pants with a generous cut are worn so that protective gear can be worn underneath. Additionally, a short-sleeved T-shirt is worn, except in Full-Contact Kickboxing where no top is worn.

Suitable clothing:
Kickboxing Pants: Wide-cut pants, usually made of satin or polyester, to fit equipment underneath (Foot Protection, Shin Guards, Groin Guard)
Kickboxing Shirt: Short-sleeved T-shirt made of cotton or polyester, breathable. (Not used in Full-Contact)
Foot Protection: The foot is completely covered from front and back.
Shin Guards: Shin guards are worn under the pants and protect the shin.
Groin Guard: The Groin Guard is worn under the pants.
Chest Protector: Women should always wear a Chest Protector.
Mouthguard: A Mouthguard is essential in every fight.
Headgear: For amateurs, Headgear is usually mandatory. Not for professionals.
Hand Wraps: Hand Wraps are always recommended, even if not mandatory in all competitions.
Boxing Gloves: In Point-Fighting open gloves are used, otherwise 10oz - 12oz Boxing Gloves are required.

Kickboxing and K1

Kickboxing shorts are generally slightly longer and tighter than Muay Thai shorts, typically made of satin or polyester, offering maximum leg freedom for kicks and better adaptability to fast movements.

Suitable clothing:
Kickboxing Shorts: Wide-cut shorts, usually satin or polyester, for maximum freedom during kicks.
Kickboxing Shirt: No T-shirts during competitions. Women wear a sports bra. In training, cotton T-shirts or tight rashguards are often used.
Instep Guards: Instep Guards are often used to prevent slipping.
Shin Guards: Not in competition, but recommended in training.
Groin Guard: Worn under the shorts.
Chest Protector: Always recommended for women.
Mouthguard: Essential in every fight.
Headgear: Only recommended for amateurs.
Hand Wraps: Indispensable for hard punches.
Boxing Gloves: 10oz - 12oz for competition, 14oz or 16oz for training.

Muay Thai shorts are shorter and have higher cuts than kickboxing pants, often with traditional designs.

Suitable clothing:
Muay Thai Shorts: Short-cut shorts, mostly satin or polyester, for maximum leg freedom.
• Muay Thai Shirt: No shirts in competition. Women wear a sports bra. In training, breathable tops like a tank top are worn.
